Artist and Toymaker
Evelyn Skop was born and raised in a small town in New Jersey. As a multimedia artist she loves experimenting with all types of styles, form, and material to create adorable toys inspired by the comfort and fun of plush.
What is the last room you always end up in at an aquarium? The gift shop of course! Kids go up and down the shelves filled with plushies and toys of all the aquatic animals they just met, except the baskets are full of… pink penguins and tye-dye colored stingrays? There are plenty of colorful creatures in the sea to choose from, but aquariums would rather display these inaccurate animals to attract attention. Starting from a silly school project and turning into a large series of aquarium plushies, Aquarium Animals has a goal of designing fun yet accurate likeliness of unpopular animals that don’t really have any representation in this market of fluffiness.
Before settling into toy design, I worked on a lot of game jams and game design classes. My games may be small, but 10 years ago I never would have imagined that I would be doing this.
Buttons below projects will take you to its Itch page so you can play them!
A rhythm/visual novel game I helped create in a team with 2 other people. I created concept art, music, and lead the project. Dantalion is a game about a group of fallen-out friends who got invited to play at the exclusive Dantalion festival, with an enticing prize of $50,000.
A twist on the arcade classic PAC-MAN. I worked in a team with three other people to create Midnight Manor, a game where you play as Patrick "Pat" Namco as you wander the halls of an old mansion, with persistent ghosts chasing you. I was responsible for creating concept art, music, sound effects, and play testing the game.
Play as Henry, a forgetful little axolotl that DEFINITELY did not forget his friend's birthday. Collect as many shiny things as you can, rumor has it, there's a giant pearl buried underneath the water! Grab all that you can carry and get back in time for presents!
